Not a good week for fingers

So, the wierdest things have been happening to my fingers this week. It started with this phantom skinning--the abrasion just appeared one day after my workout. Really sucks whenever I touch it. Next was a series of hangnails I just couldn't stop playing with. Now I've got little bloodspots around my cuticles. And finally, I somehow shock myself on one of my laptop's USB outlets, or something, I don't know--I just have this pale scar on my ring finger, now. Felt like a beesting, but quick. Hurt to touch it for a bit, but no more. It still looks like a pale scar. Weird.

Fortunately, none of these injuries have deterred me from my art. Just the laziness. So here we go!

Quite often, it seems like we aren't getting anywhere...

"... when, in fact, we are."

Though I found quite a bit of it rather disturbing and creepy in my youth, I did always love the characters and the story of the movie 'Labyrinth'. More recently, I've come across a rather brilliant comic featuring a couple of the movie's characters, and completely fallen in love (you can find it here). I'd love so much to do my own comic, but I don't feel like I've got any decent ideas--except for this epic tale I've been working on, which is going to require a lot more prep before I can really do anything.

That aside, 'Labyrinth' is a fun movie to watch whilst drawing avi art! :3

Bad Jazz

It's rare for me to have a really good day at work. Despite the fact that this is the job I've liked the most of all the jobs I've had before, it can still drive me a little nuts. Sometimes the students are just SO slow, or ignore my advice SO completely, that it feels like I'm having to completely reign myself in, and it grates rather badly. So It's lovely to come home and unwind with the things that I love to do--like my art! It's been a little while since I jumped on my tablet, so I did a little warm-up with a silly meme I found on deviantart (you can find it on my deviantart account), and now I'm back to the avi art!

I love weekends

Especially LONG weekends! Yay! Spring semesters are so cool. Lots and lots of holidays, plus spring break! Ballin'! That means lots of time for me to work on my art!

My Muse is Bi-polar

So, as you may have noticed, this blog has gone a couple days without posts. I've been feeling a little wiped lately, and it's transferred to my art. For the first time ever, I started a piece last night, got done with the sketch portion, and just... couldn't finish. Couldn't do the lineart. But for the past thirty-six hours I have been writing and sketching up a storm for this new project of mine, which will be pretty much as consuming as as the Gaia avatar project has been for me over the past two months--I may even get some concept art up here as it comes.

Happy Belated Candychalk Hearts Day!

Hey everyone! How was your Valentine's Day? Mine was pretty fantastic. It's my second Single's Awareness Day being un-single, and with as chill as our schedules have been, we had a real good time together. There were crepes in a restaurant we tried for the first time (DELICIOUS! Can't wait to go back), a lovely evening together, and a little spontaneous dancing. It was great fun--and I find myself looking forward to next year! :3

Unfortunately, it meant that I spent practically NO time on my art this weekend--but I'm back on it tonight!

Top Chef

I really surprised myself when I started getting into these cooking shows. I'm no gourmand, and not into the drama, but the competition is kinda fun, and learning about the people as characters is fun. Plus, just the variety of food is fascinating, and so are the challenges, even if the Judges are jerks.

And it's fun to watch while drawing! :3

Longest Afternoon

Wow, I haven't been this tired from stress for a long time. I spent almost an hour in a pure haze of shock and distress. And all over something SO stupid. I wanted to express that, but I'm not cool with sharing details at the moment. Maybe later.

Dead Zone

Not one of my most favorite shows, but the first season was pretty fun. Ran out of interesting, new things to watch (except One Piece, which I can't watch while drawing because I have to pay attention to the subtitles), so I decided to turn to some old stuff.

Dogma

Kevin Smith is a friggin' genius. I love all his stuff--with the exception of maybe Jersey girl, which was sweet, but not up my alley. I just recently got ahold of all of his best stuff, and kinda spent the weekend watching all of it. SO MUCH GREAT DIALOGUE. And you know something I really love about it? Despite all the crude humor and sexual references, I like to think that, at base, most of his movies are really about love. It doesn't even have to be romantic love--but that connection between people who really get each other. I'd give anything to have that.

I love Fridays

Not the restaurant. I've never been to one of those. I mean the day of the week! I love Fridays because I don't have class--just a few hours of work. That way, I have the satisfaction of making a little money, then get the rest of the day to myself! I don't even have to get up as early as I usually do! And man, I don't have much time during the week to do my art anymore, so getting some of my own time at the end of the week to just sit down at my tablet and chill with a few episodes of my favorite shows is super cool.

So, we all know I'm an anime freak, yes?

Add to the list my likeable anime 'Fruits Basket'. Girly anime though it is, the protagonist is adorable. The shrieky noises the English voice actress makes are so cute!

Aaaaand while I'm watching my store of the one and only season episodes, I drew my first Gaia avi in the last two days--both of which were taken up by so much work! @_@
