Shameless Bull!

So, I've got this new RP going on over at Gaia, and have been struck by a bolt of inspiration and sheer luck! The scenario we've got is brilliant, and I had a lot of fun writing the opening scene. My hope is actually to illustrate a segment of it, but first I need to get a handle on drawing anthropomorphic bulls. I decided to start with the real thing. Here's more SHAMELESS TRACING!

It's funny. Later, I decided that I might base the character on a buffalo, but we'll see how it looks in the morning. With any luck, you'll all get to see the finished product soon!

Love and peace!

A Rival Approaches!

So, thought it was about time I bring in a little more color--and what better way than with Samurai Goldfish's deadly enemy--The Ninja Koala?!

Time goes on

Howdy folks!

How was your Christmas? Get everything you asked Santa for? I hope so!

I had such a wonderful and busy Christmas holiday that I didn't have time for my dailies! So I'm glad I got so many Avi drawings before I went home! But now I'm back, and guess what? I'm still addicted to these things! I've got more projects going on--slightly more long-term ones--but I think I'll churn out a few of these for a warm-up!

Here's the magnificent thread that inspired me!

Draw the Avatar Above you!

Too many shirts

Hey all!

So, I'm working on another commission for my friend Kasumi. But this one's giving me some real trouble! One of the major details of the character is that he have 'flowey magician robes', and I just can't seem to create them! I've never been good with creative clothing. So I'm throwing out the ideas that I DO have (based on the Gaia avatar reference I was given) and hoping something sticks.

Whatcha think?

THE Avatar

G'mornin, all!

So, anyone who knows me knows that I am a HUGE fan of Avatar. No, not the thing with the blue cat people--although, that was pretty spiffy as well--the Last Airbender! No, not that M. Night Shamllamallamalan's rip-off--the original animated cartoon! Mike and Brian's golden child (with the unfortunate ending taking place during the writer's strike). Yeah, that one. With the brilliant concept built upon by fun scripting, a super voice cast, ground-breaking music, and a spectacular array of engaging details, Avatar; the Last Airbender, is one of those shows that will go down in infamy as one of the best cartoons ever made, and will always host a substantial fanbase, myself included.

In any case, I found a group on Deviantart, one of my all-time favorite art sites, that is building off the much-anticipated sequel of our beloved cartoon and has created a handful of element-based gangs with values and goals which aspiring and accomplished artists alike can join and improve their skills (and rank) by illustrating or writing about different missions their fan character gets sent on. My intention is to apply to join, so I took an old fan sketch out of a REAL old sketchbook, and made this little sun-shiney squirt.

She ain't finished yet, but I've got her backstory all picked out, and I should be able to apply very soon!

If this sounds like something fun, and you'd like to join, you're going to need a Deviantart account (they're free!) and this link:

Long live the Avatar!

Kinky

I went on a hike today. I was tired, so I edited one of my earlier pictures.

I give you samurai goldfish--the kinky version!

That is one sexy goldfish.

Acknowledgements

For this daily, I take the opportunity to show a little progress on an art request made long ago by a good friend of mine, without whom I would not be making this site now.

Here are some concept pieces for my tablet supplier and old school buddy, once known by the nickname Kasumi. In addition to a steal of a price, she gave her tablet to me in exchange for a piece of fanart with one of her favorite anime characters of the time. I'll leave you folks to guess who--but not for long! I promise I'll get it done soon, Kasumi, darling!

See ya tomorrow, folks!

...and now for something completely different

Hullo, my dumplings.

Today we're doing something a little different. Instead of a daily drawing, I give you the culminations of a semester's efforts in my ceramics class! Let's go down the line, shall we?

The first piece to leave my fingertips was the tiny figure at the center of this little bowl. The holes came after. I don't know what I was thinking. I call it 'Penguin Pavilion'.

The second tiny animal to be made in this class, and the last. But he is very cute, no? The pattern the glaze put on him made me want to call him the 'Tortise shell Tortise'.

The first piece I was truly proud to call mine was my wolf. Although, some mistook it, and really, 'Stone Fox' is a way cooler name. :)

Sadly, though, I am but an ametuer potter, and I make ameteur mistakes. Such as letting air pockets form in the legs of my 'Bell Jar'. Damn. Was gonna give that one to Mom, too....
A failed attempt at a coil pot quickly became the perfect shape for a soap tray! I call this one 'Fish Dish'.

I believe I spent more time on this piece than any other, taking her home over the weekend to really craft the torso, but the hair is what I like the most. You can see the texture better at a full view, though. This is the 'Naga Woman'.

I wanted to call this the Whale Whistle, but my teacher is a bit of a stickler about accuracy ("It's not an oven--it's a KILN!"), so its title is instead 'Whale Ocarina'. The mouthpiece is in the tail. It does play, but not in tune. Also, we put it in a pit fire, and it got gross looking. Hopefully you can still see the smile.

This guy was a favorite among my classmates. Inspired by a random picture I found online, I've named him simply 'The Demon'.

I was challenged by my instructor to create either a large or tiny version of the previous model after I'd finished, and since I didn't want to use too much of my clay, I made this little fellow. He's about a third of the height of his brother, and I've taken to calling him the 'Little Demon'.

The 'Owl Mask' was my final piece, I am sad to say. But I am returning in the spring for the intermediate class. I look forward to showing you more in the months to come!

Go ahead and click on any of them for a full view--some have more detail than the little picture lets on!

Expect a return to the usual drawings upon the 'morrow. For now, good night sweet folks!

Winter Lady

Hullo all!

Guess what? I finally got a suggestion! YAY!

My good friend Syn, from over on Gaia, suggested I draw a winter woman. My immediate idea was blue. Lots of blue.

Think that's enough blue?

Oh, and FANSERVICE! 8P

It's the first, but it probably won't be the last.

Thanks, Syn! Love you!

Meet the Reaper

Heyo!

I would like to take this opportunity to welcome any and all Gaians who happen to have made their way to this site. In honor of your coming, I give you one of my more longer-lasting and favorite Gaia avatars, The Reaper! Say 'hi', Reaper!

.... Don't mind her. She doesn't say much.

But hey, like her style? Then I've got news for you--I do commissions! And I gladly take Gaia gold as payment. Interested? PM me on Gaia!

And, as always, I'd love to hear comments from anyone about what my next daily should be!

Memory on Peachtree

Hey all!

(Read: 'my mother')

Been working all afternoon on this new piece. Decided to take a look at some of my old stuff and see what kind of effect a couple years and a tablet might have on it. The subject of my experiment? Lee Kanker, from one of my more popular pieces on Deviantart. Yes, I have a Deviantart page. It's nothing schnazzy, but I've gotten some faves. Check it out, if you like. It's horribly out of date.

http://osanagokoro.deviantart.com/

This piece isn't finished yet, but I figured I'd set up a comparison just for fun. You'll likely get the finished version tomorrow.

See you tomorrow, sports art fans!

And hey, want to see something different up here? Make a suggestion! I don't guarantee I'll draw it, but considering how few requests I've got now (count 'em: none), I'm more than likely to take yours! So bring 'em on!

Shameless

Heyo!

So, it seems my latest project will have nothing to do with originality or color! Yay!

I'm currently working on some fanart for a youtube series featuring one of my favorite video bloggers--Wheezy Waiter! Link is in the doobly--I mean... right here. Yeah. I don't have a doobly-doo. No idea what I'm talking about? Click the link.

http://www.youtube.com/user/wheezywaiter#g/u

Anyhoo, I thought I'd throw out one of the collections of sketches I've made--shamelessly traced from screenshots to give me a good idea of her shape--for your viewing enjoyment.

I give you--Virginia (aka Princess of the 4th Dimension) of The Platoon of Power Squadron!

Wanna watch a show with crazy superpowers in it? Link's in the... oh, nevermind.

Pastry Incident

So, I cheated a bit with the first post. It's the opening--whatcha gonna do?

In truth, I created the samurai goldfish a while back, and I don't think it would be fair to start a daily-art-post-blog with a lie. That would be terrible of me. And I don't want you to think I'm a horrible person or anything.

So here's something I really did today.

This has nothing to do with my dislike of pie. In fact, I rather like pie. This idea was suggested to me. The prompt was, "Pie. Getting stabbed. By a cookie." If I get comments from you, there may be less pie- and stabbing-related incidents. Or more, if you like that sort of thing.

See you tomorrow, pie-lovers!

Welcome - Samurai Goldfish!

Hullo all!

Welcome to Seven Shades of White, my new blog spot for daily art posts!

Spirit willing, I'll be creating a piece of digital art for every day of the week in an attempt to improve my artistic skills, what with being new to the tablet and all. Mostly this'll be something random and possibly colorful, but I'm also hoping to use this blog as a base for new ideas.

Any comments are welcome, and I even accept new ideas for what my daily post should be! And if you like what you see, I'm even open for commissions--details to come at a later date.

And so, to start us off, here's a samurai goldfish.

You can see it in his eyes--he wants you to comment.
