Because I'm a liar. I'm pretty sure I mentioned that at one point.

So yeah, remember how I was talking about being lazy about everything but my art, the other day? Well, looks like my muse took that to include her as well, and decided our time would be better spent playing Civ V and Minecraft.

On another note, One Piece is awesome, and I love Usopp.

That was nothing compared to FIVE AM.

I had to get up and take my bf to the airport this morning, and I am--I can't believe this--even MORE tired than I was yesterday. Not the tiredest I've ever been, but from a consistent lack of real rest, yeah, this has been pretty nuts. This weekend is going to mean a LOT of lazy.

But not for my art! :3

A cave of wonders!

Among my many media addictions is my like for rewatching animated Disney movies I loved (and completely memorized) as a child. They're amusing and pleasantly nostalgic and all have happy endings--perfect for playing in the background while I'm drawing. I just finished watching Beauty & the Beast this afternoon as I was drawing the first one, and was overcome with a desire to see some other old favorites, like Aladdin and Pocahontas. Now that I have both, I'm chillin' with them while I draw some new stuff. Good times are good.

6 am is NOT my hour

As was proved to me when I got up at 6 am this morning.

So, work started up on Friday, and I learned then--as was made clear to me this morning--that I would be working at 8am on Mondays and Wednesdays. I have not had to work or go to school at 8am SINCE HIGH SCHOOL. Insanity. Utter insanity. It's 9:30 and I'm sleepy. Sleepy and a little ill. I ate too many beans.

Danger! Danger!

High voltage!

Heh, that's such a catchy song. And relevant to my weekend!

So, our landlord decided to fix the house wiring today and yesterday, and for whatever reason, that happened to include continual power outages in our room--and our roommates'--without prior notification. For me, fortunately, this just meant a really annoying noise when my laptop's power switched to battery, but my bf hasn't been able to use his computer for the weekend. It also means that the internet keeps going out, so I can't post up my Gaia avi pictures, or gather the references I need to make more, which means I can't draw more than two a day this weekend, when that's my week-day standard, and that makes me sad. And that battery-switch noise is REALLY annoying.

So now the internet is back and the power is back and I'm posting stuff.

Waffles!

So, the bf and I finally got out that waffle maker his mom gave us for Christmas, grabbed a belgian recipe off the internet, and OMG WAFFLES. They're soooo good! We made a double batch of batter, and we are going to be FEASTING off these things for like a WEEK. It's MARVELOUS.

Of course, I had to spend a few rounds on the DDR mat afterwards. :3

Having fun!

Okay, this is my mantra--gotta have fun! Gotta have FUN while I'm drawing.

I have issues. Anyone who knows me knows this. At the moment, that's limited to my bf. And whomever happens to be reading this. And more recently, I've made it my mission to fix these issues! And the one I'm working on right now is HAVING MORE FUN. Because I've realized that I've thus far only been 'satisfied' or 'unsatisfied' with the general outcome of my pictures instead of just enjoying the process! Isn't that sad? I think that's sad. And I wanna be happy! So I'm gonna fix it! Fix fix fix! :3

Oh, and I think I failed to mention this before, but just because Gaians choose to outfit their avatars with less than what you might like to find in public, doesn't mean I exclusively endorse half- or less-than-half-clothed characters. But I do endorse staying true to my references! What you see is what you get! If you don't like it... well, I'm sorry.

Same goes for tobacco products, really. I think I've drawn maybe five or six characters with cigarettes or pipes, none of which I had a fondness for. When I was a kid, I'd hide my parents' cigarettes or throw them out. Well, once. Then I got yelled at and cried. I don't like cigarettes. But I like staying true to my art! So that wins out. Sorry anyone who takes offense!

Titles are hard

I mean, I think of all these things I could talk about concerning my day or my plans for tomorrow--I could even limit it to art or my art classes! But I just don't know who reads these things, or what you'd be interested in reading. So I think I'll stick to what I'm drawing.

I need to practice more on making my own style, I think. This constant chibi-ish thing has gotten me locked in, to the point that this semi-realistic one really kicked my butt. I'm not overly impressed with it, but I'm hoping the requester will like it. ^_^U

Winter is cold

Who knew?

Seriously. When you live in Hawaii, you forget these things. But when your bedroom window is open to air blowing right down off a snow-capped mountain, it's a really good reminder! Especially when your only fuzzy robe is covered in cat hair that from that trip you took to your mom's house and makes your bf's allergies act up when he hugs you so you have to throw it in the laundry even though it's not dirty it's just saturated with cat dander....

But that aside! Let's see some new art! :3

Long Weekend

In so many ways!

Spent some time at my mom's house this weekend going through old boxes that had been packed away when I moved--and now officially have about eight boxes of things to sell (keep an eye on ebay for cool books, games and memorabilia, folks)! That's a lot of stuff! I'm so tired from carrying boxes between the attic and the shed and sorting through them all! Not to mention a little family drama in between--that seems to have become a common thing of late. But I have hope that things will get resolved with time.

Speaking of time, it's been a while since I put up any art, huh? I've been a busy duckling. But here's a little more for my lovely Gaians between travel and bed tonight. :3

Free day!

Well, sorta. Didn't have any school/work scheduled for today--but I had to take my bf to a doctor's appointment, and we had lunch and went to the gym, and then I had to do laundry when I got home so I'd have clothes to take with me when I go to visit my mom tomorrow to help her out finding something and going through some old boxes of stuff to get rid of junk before I move.

So! Long story short, I'm not getting the free time I want to do more avi art, and probably won't do much more this weekend--even though it IS a long weekend. But I shall do my best! :3

Yes, I'm still watching it. Religiously. I've got the whole box set! Why not? I feel smarter just watching it--or at least faster. :3

But no faster making these avatar art 'quickies'. I think they're actually getting more detailed. ^_^U
